My Bio

I am 24 years old and a digital artist since my childhood, with a focus on Mega Man pixel art.

I have a very wide taste for video games, but Mega Man is the only franchise that moved me to create fan art to the point it has become a hobby.

My first steps on pixel art happened when I was just six, and in that time my biggest dream was to make a Mega Man game, even though I had only played a few games of the BN and X series. Soon after, I realized that it was impracticable for a kid to make a game, and decided to tell my stories without discarding my sprites: through sprite comics. My first real project was started in April 2010 with the name “Megaman X: Unidade 49”, gathering a bunch of characters from those 2005~2009 fan game plans. Their designs were not the best, and most of their names were weird (Saturn included, I did not know about the Stardroids back then)… which kinda fit with the fact that the story had no sense at all. In early 2014, I tried restarting the story with a great improvement on graphics, but the plot was practically the same. During 2014, I joined the Nitrusland Escape Tournament and the World Spriter’s Tournament of the Middle Ground Comics and learned a lot of things on how to improve my work during that year, triggering a continuous evolution in my mindset and my skills. In that year, I also began interacting with non-brazillian people and Deviant Art was the first community I joined.

In January 2015, I decided to turn that old comic in a serious thing. I would keep some of the weird designs and names due to nostalgia, but the story would be the best I could make, with a compromise of staying loyal to the canon and expanding the universe of Mega Man. Since then, “Mega Man X: Unit 49” is responsible for keeping me active in the community. The efforts required to maintain its quality in my best provided me even more learning, and I met many new fan groups in different places of the internet while striving to spread my work.

I really appreciate feedback of any kind as long as it is a viable constructive that can be used to improve my stuff. I will always argue on the things I don’t agree, but I am very calm and tolerant person, who always enjoys any kind of interaction with the people who follow my work. Please don’t ever be shy to point any grammar/visual flaws you may find, nor to comment your thoughts!

Important stuff:

If you are going to invite me for a project, please tell as much details as you can (who is the team, your goals, what do you need, etc.) because I don’t trust vague proposals. However, I am a very busy person so you can expect that my answer will be “no” unfortunately. I can always give tips or recommend other people that might help though!

Tools I use in my works:

Paint.NET - Paint.NET is love. Paint.NET is life. My pixel art, drawings, photo-edits and comics are primarily made in this program.

Photoshop CS4 – Normally only used for Indexed Color, Perspective and Warp. Seems too laborious when you just want to make simple stuff.

ScreenToGif; GIF Movie Gear – gifs.

I draw with my right hand, normally the sketches are done in paper with a pencil or pen and the scanned or photographed thing becomes the base for the digital art. Mega Man drawings are primarily drawn with the line and geometric shapes, while my own style is pretty much just a free mouse drawing.

My general advice for improvement is to mimic the kind of art you aim to make. The only way to get better is to ALWAYS be open to criticism and listen to people. You don’t need to agree with everything they say, but you have to identify what is useful for you. Don’t fear trying new techniques and seek for new knowledge, or you might get stuck in a comfort zone. Don’t be ashamed of old art, use them as a reference on how much you have evolved (if you are stagnant, there might be something wrong).

I'm amazed at your bespoke works. Awesome arts.

dude your pixel art is amazing! you make such cool Mega Man stuff

you've earned yourself a new watcher, man, you deserve all the praise you get :D

You are awesome.

You're an outstandingly talented artist, sir. I think the games industry is where you belong - have you considered learning a programming language or video game design application, so that you can get your work into a game?

... It's easier than you may think - if a fool like me can do it, then you certainly can. I'm of the mind that your art deserves to be played, as well as seen! :)

Thank you for your words! I have considered working fully on games industry, but my life is split between artistic and academic, and in the last few years the academic half has been draining all my available time, so I always have to reject proposals for long projects. Still, I know some basic Game Maker and Python coding and I've done a few contributions to games such as FictionSphere, where I worked on the stage backgrounds. Depending on what lies in the future I may dedicate myself more into the industry.

No worries! It's great that you've been active on the scene, even with your other commitments - I know life comes first, so respect to you for juggling it all. Keep up the great work! :)
