Its funny how the moment Sigma is taken out of the picture, everything becomes way more morally ambiguous. The time of Megaman X is not as dystopic as say, the world of Megaman Zero, but there's a big subtext of the Reploids clearly not being seen and treated as equal to humans. They are treated as humans in some aspects but as robots in others. I think a good idea of this is how lethal Reploid Criminals are treated, X, Zero and co rarely take someone under custody, its pretty much execution for them.


Even the very concept of "Maverick" is deeply wrong because it puts every single reploid not doing what the humans want, into a single category that compromises all sorts of reploids - from reploids fighting against injustice and prejudice, to anti-human genocidal megalomaniacs, and reploids with defects and viral infections as well.
